Long-Standing Administrative Leader Says Farewell After 29 Years of Public Service
On June 26, 2026, the Court Executive Officer/Clerk of the Court for the Eighth Judicial District Court, Steven D. Grierson, retired after serving the EJDC for nearly three decades.
Grierson, who began his career with Clark County and the Court in 1997, was promoted through the ranks to Court Executive Officer in 2009. Grierson’s noteworthy accomplishments included building specialty courts programs, improving case management processes, and expanding judicial departments. Grierson, throughout his career, developed a reputation as a fierce advocate for the independence of the judiciary as a separate branch of government.
District Court Judge Art Ritchie, who served as EJDC Chief Judge from 2009 to 2010, appointed Grierson to his current position with a court-wide vote of approval by district judges on July 8, 2009.
Grierson served as the Court Executive Officer for approximately 17 years. Current outgoing Chief Judge Jerry Wiese stated. “The Court will be very different without Steve Grierson’s leadership, but for the last 17 years as the CEO, he has done tremendous things to position us as a strong third branch
of government. His efforts and legacy will remain, and we will remember and be grateful for all he has done, for many years into the future.”
Looking back on his career at the EJDC, Grierson stated, “It has been the honor of a lifetime to serve the Eighth Judicial District Court as its Court Executive Officer. I am so proud of our accomplishments and grateful to the tremendous judges and employees with whom I have had the privilege to work over so many years.”
Court leadership has selected Timothy Andrews, who is currently employed as EJDC staff counsel, and who previously served as a court commissioner and deputy court administrator for the EJDC, to be his successor.
