The CASA Program has a big need for volunteers to advocate for the more than 3,000 children in foster care in Clark County. A great way to get into the program is to volunteer with a spouse, fiend, coworker or someone else. One of the benefits of volunteering as a team, is that you can work on cases together. Some cases involve sibling groups. It is nice to have the option to put two volunteers who want to work together in such situations. The CASA Program has training and offers many special activities and events that volunteer teams can enjoy together. If you are considering becoming a CASA volunteer, bring someone with you to have twice the impact.
The CASA Program, which is part of the Family Division of the Eighth Judicial District Court, recruits, screens, trains and supports volunteers to represent the best interests of foster children in Clark County. There are more than 3,000 children in foster care and we need a CASA volunteer to speak for each of these children. The volunteer advocates represent the children in school, child and family team meetings, and in court. Volunteering for the program involves a two-year commitment and a willingness to spend quality time with the children to advocate for them.
