Nineteen new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers were sworn in by the Eighth Judicial District Court Family Division on June 17, 2026. CASA volunteers serve as advocates for children in foster care and work closely with caregivers, educators, caseworkers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure each child’s needs are being addressed. The CASA Program now has 616 active volunteers, with 486 of those volunteers currently assigned to cases throughout Clark County.

“CASA volunteers play a critical role in the lives of children who have experienced abuse or neglect,” said Judge Pickard. “By building relationships with the children they serve and gathering information from everyone involved in a child’s life, CASA volunteers provide judges with valuable insight that helps inform decisions made in the child’s best interests.”

“These 19 new volunteers will have an immediate impact on the lives of 38 children,” said Incoming Presiding Judge Cynthia Giuliani. “Their willingness to step forward and serve is a testament to the strength and compassion of our community. CASA volunteers help ensure that children’s voices are heard and that their best interest remains at the center of every decision.”

The CASA Program recruits, screens, trains, and supports volunteers who are willing to commit to making a difference in children’s lives for at least two years. Individuals interested in becoming a CASA volunteer are encouraged to attend a free virtual orientation to learn more about the program and the training process.
