Temporary Protective Orders
The Eighth Judicial District Court and the Las Vegas Township Justice Court provide help to individuals seeking protection from harrassment, stalking, and domestic violence. Forms are provided and assistance is available through both courts.
Las Vegas Township Justice Court
The Las Vegas Justice Court is only authorized to issue Temporary Protective Orders Against Stalking and Harassment and cannot issue Temporary Protective Orders Against Domestic Violence. Stalking and harrassment are defined as actions of a neighbor, co-worker or friend. Domestic Violence is defined as violence that occurs in a domestic situation, such as in a home between a husband and wife. Domestic Violence Temporary Protection Orders assistance is provided at the Family Courts and Services Center through the Eighth Judicial District Court.
Eighth Judicial District Court
The Eighth Judicial District Court's Family Violence Intervention Program, a cooperative effort of the Family Division and Safe Nest, is dedicated to reducing acts of domestic abuse in our community by providing: assistance with the filing of protection order applications, information regarding court-related procedures, safety planning and community awareness of domestic violence issues.
