
On May 18, 2010, the Clark County Commission and the Eighth Judicial District Court honored Dr. Florence Jameson and Dr. Jerry Jones for volunteering their professional services to young women housed at Clark County Juvenile Detention Center.
Drs. Jameson and Jones who have been providing medical care to an average of 6 to 8 young women each week since August 2007 for young women who would not otherwise have received such care.
Drs. Jameson and Jones have performed 816 obstetrics (OB) visits to date and have performed cancer, pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease screenings and treatment. In addition, the doctors have supplied portable ultrasound services to allow for optimal fetal assessments, assisted in arranging appointments with outside specialists within the community for young women needing specialized OB care and have provided medical staff each week for assisting with examinations, specimen collection, and treatment of young women housed at the Juvenile Detention Center.
The Doctors have followed the youth with high risk pregnancies to completion of pregnancy following their release from the Detention Center who are not otherwise able to obtain such services in the community.
