General Information

Mission

The Las Vegas Justice Court is an integrated justice system that protects individual rights through an adaptable, cost effective and service oriented judicial process.

Court Jurisdiction

The Las Vegas Justice Court is a court of limited jurisdiction responsible for criminal, civil, and traffic matters within the Las Vegas Township. The court currently has ten (10) elected Justices of the Peace serving 6-year terms as set forth in the Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS).

The court administers criminal probable cause reviews, felony and misdemeanor arraignments and preliminary hearings, and trials for misdemeanor and traffic cases. The court's civil jurisdiction includes amounts up to $10,000.00, small claim cases up to $5,000.00, and landlord/tenant eviction proceedings. The court's Traffic Office is responsible for citation violations issued by law enforcement agencies in the Las Vegas Township, and outside the City of Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, or the City of Henderson.

Location

The Las Vegas Township Justice Court is located in the Regional Justice Center at 200 Lewis Avenue. The Justice Court Traffic Office and courtroom is on the First Floor, and the Justice Court Clerk's Office is on the Second Floor.

Public parking is available in the County Parking Lot, one block to the south of the Regional Justice Center. Parking for the disabled is located on Third Street and in the County Parking Lot.

Additional public parking is available in the Fremont Street Experience parking structure. The entrance to this facility is at 200 S. 4th Street. (Note: 4th Street is ONE WAY going North.) This parking is approximately four (2) blocks west of the Regional Justice Center.

Business Hours

Office hours of the Justice Court Clerk are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday excluding holidays. Court hours are set based on the type of proceeding. Please refer to your court documents for specific location and court times.

Customers will ONLY be able to obtain customer service tickets from the Court's Q-Matic Customer Call System through 5:00 pm. Customers wishing to File documents after 5:00 pm; are encouraged to use the Court's Document Drop Box located in the Regional Justice Center.

The Regional Justice Center opens at 7:30 am and all visitors are subject to security screening when entering the building.

The Justice Court's Pretrial Services Office is open seven (7) days a week, 24 hours a day.

Courtroom Standards

No weapons are allowed in the courthouse, and there is no smoking in the courthouse. There is no eating, drinking, or chewing gum in the courtroom.

Proper courtroom attire is required. No shorts or tank tops are allowed in the courtroom, shoes are required. T-shirts, which show offensive slogans or pictures, are not allowed. Hats should be removed before entering the courtroom.

While in the courtroom, sit quietly when Court is in session. Do not talk or whisper. The Court proceedings are being transcribed by a court reporter and noise can interfere with the preparation of this important record.

Avoid bringing children to court. If it is necessary to do so, please monitor their behavior so they remain quiet at all times. If they are quiet, children are allowed in the courtroom, but parents may be asked to leave the courtroom if their child becomes noisy or unruly.

All beepers, cellular telephones, and electronic devices must be turned off before entering the courtroom. Avoid reading newspapers, or books in the courtrooms, particularly if your use of such material may be a distraction to others.
